 EXISTANCE OF HRM INGLOBAL PANDAMIC - COVID 19


After the Second World War COVID-19 became the global devastation and badly influenced the economies, workplaces and human social lives than any other. Unexpected changes occurred in business and directly affected to the smooth functioning of HR.

Due to the rules and regulations imposed to avoid the spreading of COVID-19,functioning of businesses has been threatened. Social distancing, restraining of human gatherings travel bans and many other restrictions has been taken place and they have cancelled or postponed the functioning of businesses.HR department of the organization faces challenges in monitoring the attendance of employees. Some employees may suffer from COVID-19, appearance of symptoms of the disease, or fear of being sick of coronavirus or some were subject to compulsory quarantine or medical isolation. Under the pandemic circumstance most employees are asked to go for work from home option. Due to all of these reasons HR managers faces severe trouble in labor inefficiency and shortage at workplaces. So they had to introduce new policies, plans, and working modes to maintain smooth functioning of the businesses and to save the employees from the global pandemic.

COVID-19positively affected on particular industries around the globe and majority were not. Globally each and every business suffers from profit drops. So organizations faces difficulty in maintain the company staff. So most organizations have reduced their operations and some have closed down. So automatically management of most organizations have reduced their staff. So trainees, outsourced laborers even fixed term employees have lost their jobs. Not only that most organizations has gone for salary deductions also.


Balancing the business and balancing the staff has become the major task of the HR department of each and every business in the world. Businesses need survive by maintain nominal profit margins and managing company expenses. As this is a global pandemic every organization faces severe challenges.

 As most businesses cannot gain profits, cost should be reduced by increasing productivity. Marinating the workforce of the company is a huge cost for a company. So the company should monitor each and every employee very closely to get the maximum output from them during this tight schedule. Their contribution should be carefully measured to increase the productivity of the company. During the pandemic companies never go for recruiting unless going for ejaculation of unproductive from the organization.

Instead of traveling and gathering, work from home concept has been introduced. It is a good HR strategy. But this strategy is not effective for organizations like manufacturing firms.


HR department has the responsibility of educating the staff regarding the pandemic and how they should protect from this. The health practices which the staff should follow while they are working in the factories should be educated. Marinating staff to follow the health guidelines may be difficult but it must be done to maintain COVID free working environment.

Most of the employees during this period may become lazy and unproductive, HR department can conduct motivational training and development sessions for the employees via online to avoid such.


Performance and pay are the most critical management areas of HR during this pandemic. So companies should follow necessary strategies to streamline the pay and performance of the employees. Employees of high commitment should be rewarded and make an icon within the organization.

HR department of each and every business in the world play a vital role. So their efforts should be highly appreciated.

How ever with the technological advancement like automation could be a better solution which are on the drawing board of scientist.
